|The medieval town of Pietrasanta, famous for its marble studios, bronze work and restaurants, stands at the foot of the Apuan Alps and yet is only 3kms/ 2 miles from Tuscany's golden coast. The modern area of Marina di Pietrasanta runs along the coast, a superb wide beach of soft golden sand with a breathtaking mountain backdrop. It is the ideal base from which you can explore and enjoy everything Tuscany has to offer, or the perfect retreat where you can relax and do absolutely nothing. Pietrasanta is only 20 minutes from the walled city of Lucca, 30 minutes from Pisa, 1-1.5 hours from Florence and 90 minutes from both Genoa and Bologna. If you prefer not to drive, all these cities are linked to Pietrasanta by rail. You can join the Country Club with swimming pool, fitness centre, tennis, the sailing club with expert tuition, windsurf, play golf, walk in the mountains or cycle your way into the charm of small town Italian life.
Imagine actually staying in the center of medieval Pietrasanta, taking time to visit the exquisite art exhibitions, marble work shops, musical evenings and restaurants for which the town is famous. As you stroll leisurely through the narrow cobbled streets which radiate out from the old town square you will be treading the same pathways used by Michelangelo all those centuries ago.
Originally an independent dwelling, the palazzo has been lovingly restored and modernised into five individually styled apartments using the finest local materials. The apartments have been named after famous Italians who thought Pietrasanta interesting enough to warrant more than a mere passing glance. The tall palazzo is tucked away off one of the narrow roads that lead away from the main piazza and date back to the 17th century, standing in an independent courtyard. The apartments are in an excellent location being just two minutes walk from the main piazza with its lovely old churches and pavement cafes and restaurants, little shops and boutiques. Uniquely, each apartment has its own outside area in the communal garden with table/chairs and a barbecue.
The entrance stairway has been re-constructed in famous white Carrara marble, but the original antique floors and stone work on the walls and the roof beams have been retained. The interior furnishings are a mixture of modern with some antique pieces using a simple Tuscan style to offer comfort combined with the best location in town. The recent renovation means modern bathrooms that are of a good standard. In fact, you will find many thoughtful touches to make you feel as if you have found the perfect home away from home. All apartments have individual central heating and TV which make them an ideal year round choice.
A car is not essential, Pietrasanta has both a train (on the slow line) and bus station. The beach can be reached by bus or bicycle in 20 minutes on the town?s cycle path. Parking is available at a number of car parks close to the apartments. Private parking at the apartments is possible with a permit which may be obtained from the local Town Hall.
